RCS Board approves personnel moves

Personnel moves comprised the majority of last Thursday’s meeting of the Russellville City Board of Education.

The board unanimously approved 17 personnel moves recommended by superintendent Heath Grimes. Although the item was not on Thursday’s agenda, Grimes said he expects Russellville City Schools to implement the free breakfast and lunch program, Community Eligibility Provision, which is a part of the Child Nutrition Program, at the board’s August meeting.

With two additional resignations, Grimes said the board may hold a special-called meeting to approve those personnel moves and to approve the CEP meal program at that time.

Payroll for Russellville City Schools in June totaled $1,557,857. The board approved the addition of two student half days on October 21 and December 9. This will allow teachers to attend on-site professional development on those two afternoons. RCS teachers will report for an In-Service Day on Monday, August 10 at 8 a.m.

Personnel moves approved last Thursday include:

•Resignation in Position: Ashlee Rutherford, WES kindergarten teacher; and Stacy Akins, RES counselor.

•Resignation in Supplement: Kevin Barnwell, RMS head softball coach.

•Transfer in Position: Joshua Dobbins, from at-risk teacher at WES to social studies teacher at RMS; and Jason Walker, from social studies teacher at RMS to at-risk teacher at WES.

•Employment in Position: Jamie Boyles, WES first-grade teacher; Rhonda Lier, WES second-grade teacher; Brittany Sykes, WES kindergarten teacher; Pamela Waldrep, CNP worker Universal Breakfast Program, WES; and Jessica Cummings, WES kindergarten teacher.

•Athletic Consultants for 2015-16: Chase Gilmer, RMS football; Bryant Bonds, RHS football; and Torey Baird, RHS football. Payments for these consultants will be paid by the Russellville Football Booster Club.

•Substitutes: Melissa Graham and Lauren Flanagan.

The board’s next scheduled meeting will be Thursday, August 20 at 3:30 p.m., with a work session set for Monday, August 17 at 3:30 p.m.
