RV Council approves hiring Chard for vacant Accounts Payable Clerk position

The Russellville City Council approved the hiring of Camie Chard as Accounts Payable Clerk at the council's April 15th meeting.

The Russellville Civil Service Board conducted candidate interviews last week. At Monday's meeting, Chard was the recommendation of City Clerk Belinda Miller. Chard was approved by 4-1 vote, with councilman Dexter Hamilton voting against the motion.

In other agenda items, the council:

--approved the submission of a FY 2024 amended Rebuild Alabama Act grant application. The proposed grant is for funding to micro-surface Summit St., from Waterloo Road to Wilson Blvd., Underwood Road from Jackson Ave. North to Highway 43, Washington Ave., from Robinson St., to Highway 43 and Hester Line Road from Highway 43 to Highway 63. Work would include patching, leveling, scrub seal and a micro-surface wearing layer.

--was scheduled to hear a presentation from representatives of the Healing Place, a center for loss and change located in Muscle Shoals. Representatives were to provide information on the services provided by the Healing Place to the residents of the City of Russellville.

The next regular meeting of the Russellville City Council will be May 6, 2024, with work session at 6 p.m., and meeting to follow.
