April 20th event to help area homeless

A shower. A haircut. A healthy meal. Hygiene products.

These are everyday basics for most Northwest Alabama residents, but for the area's growing homeless population, they're from everyday occurrences.

Hope Fest, a special event set for Saturday, April 20, is a benefit concert that will also provide each of those 'basics' to any homeless guests at the event.

Additionally, there will be resources available for educational, medical, spiritual and mental health professionals for any homeless who want to utilize those services.

Employers will also be on hand to provide information on jobs available in the Shoals area.

Former Russellville resident Trent Stephenson is one of the hosts of this special event, which will also feature an outstanding lineup of musical entertainment all day long.

Hope Fest 24 will be held at Natchez-Trace Harley Davidson, 595 Highway 72 in Tuscumbia. Transportation for the homeless will be available to bring them to the event, where they can enjoy a shower courtesy of ShowerUp, and new clothing including jeans, underwear, socks, shoes and t-shirts.

The outreach for the homeless guests is expected to begin around 10 a.m. Each guest will also receive a wristband that allows them to eat free at all vendors/sponsors throughout the day.

The goal is to outreach to those who need assistance the most in an effort to help them get on their feet again, regardless of how or why their lives took them to this stage.

The day's music features a mix of Christian and country, all coming from artists donating their time for Hope Fest 24.

The event is free to the public and will include food trucks, vendors, games, a jump house, a silent auction, speakers and of course, live music.

Bring your lawn chairs for the musical lineup, which begins at noon. Artists scheduled to appear include L.A. Shepherd, Ascension, Caleb Storie, Lucie Tiger, Joseph Baldwin, Vann Burchfield and Erin Stoll.
