Phil Campbell graduate one of two NWSCC students named to All-Alabama Academic Team

Two Northwest-Shoals Community College students, including one from Franklin County, were named as two of 48 students to the 2024 All-Alabama Academic Team.

The students, Faith Cook and Emma Engle, were honored last week with a recognition program in Birmingham.

Cook and Engle each receive a $1,000 scholarship for being selected to the All-Alabama Academic Team.

Cook, a Phil Campbell resident, is pursuing her degree at NW-SCC and then plans to transfer to the University of Alabama to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Engle, a Haleyville resident, plans to enroll at the University of North Alabama after graduating from Northwest-Shoals. She will work towards a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education.

Criteria for the All-Alabama Academic Team include students who 'excel academically and demonstrate intellectual rigor in their course of study; show academic growth and potential, and use their two-year college education to better themselves, their schools and their communities.

Each Alabama community college has two representatives.

The program was established in 1995 as an enhancement to the All-USA National Academic Team Recognition Program, sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
