He's baaaaack, or at least he will be on Saturday, August 2nd.
Four years after his last show in Russellville, country music legend Ronnie McDowell will return to the Roxy Theatre in August. McDowell has done more than 30 shows in Russellville, which he describes as his 'adopted hometown.'
Wanda Myrick, past president of McDowell's fan club and a close friend of the singer's, recently announced confirmation of the August show. Tickets are on sale now. General admission seats are $15, and reserved seats range from $20-$35. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 256-415-3270.
Concert proceeds will benefit the historic Roxy Theatre.
Franklin County's own Joseph Baldwin will open the show.
“Ronnie is so excited to return to Russellville and we can't wait for what will certainly be a great night of music and fun,” Myrick said.
One reason for McDowell's career success (and why audiences keep coming back to his show in Russellville year after year) is how unique each show is. While McDowell always includes hits like Older Women and You're Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation, each show includes some surprises for the audience beyond his 30 charted Billboard country hits.
McDowell often does a tribute to Elvis Presley. Shortly after Elvis' death in 1977, McDowell wrote and recorded The King is Gone, his tribute to the musical legend that's sold more than five million copies.
You'll also hear some songs of faith and patriotism. And McDowell navigates through his shows with just the right amount of stories and history of his career, as well as lots of interaction with his audience.
McDowell's discography also includes a Top 10 hit with It's Only Make Believe, a duet he recorded with Conway Twitty of Twitty's breakthrough song.
He's recorded albums of beach music with Hall of Famer Bill Pinkney's Original Drifters, gospel songs and an album where he sings some of Elvis' most popular movie songs.
McDowell's talents also include painting. He's paid tribute to Elvis, George Jones and Walt Disney through the years with his artwork.
