HUNTSVILLE - Phil Campbell cut a six-run deficit all the way down to one against Falkville on Thursday at the North Regional Tournament, but the comeback ran out of steam as the Lady Bobcats were eliminated with a 12-8 loss.
After falling to Hatton 17-2 in a first-round game earlier on Thursday, Phil Campbell (23-14) scored three runs in the bottom of the second to take an early lead against Falkville. Abby Davis singled and stole second before coming home on a two-out double by Kenner Scott. Oliva Knight followed with an RBI single to put the Lady Bobcats on top 2-1. Knight stole second and scored on a base hit by Katie Thomas to cap off the two-out rally and make it 3-1.
Falkville scored five runs in the top of the third and three more in the top of the fifth, opening up a 9-3 lead. Phil Campbell got an RBI single from Leeah Jackson in the bottom of the fifth and then scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Abby Davis doubled to right and scored on another double by Scott to make it 9-5. Thomas came through with another clutch two-out hit, driving in two runs with a double to center to make it 9-7.
Darby Elliott's RBI single to right cut the lead to one. Jackson drew a walk, but the Lady Bobcats stranded two runners and trailed 9-8 at the end of six.
Falkville scored three runs in the top of the seventh and held on for the win. The Lady Blue Devils finished with 17 hits and committed just one error to Phil Campbell's six.
Scott finished 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored. Thomas went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Jackson was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Davis went 2-for-4 with two runs and a steal. Elliott, Knight and Chloe Roberson each had one hit.

Hatton scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first and made short work of the Lady Bobcats in Thursday's tournament opener.
