Become a Franklin County Extension Master Gardener!

Do you love plants? Do you enjoy learning? Then you are a great candidate for the Master Gardener Intern Training! You do not have to be a garden expert. Just come with a desire to learn, grow and volunteer!

As part of the Master Gardener intern class, you will receive horticultural training specific to Alabama’s soils and climate, training materials, and learn through hands-on labs. Best of all, you will make great new friends and enjoy giving back to your community through volunteering.

Spring 2026 Class Dates:

February 5, 2026 – April 30, 2026

Classes are held every Thursday.

Registration: November 1, 2025 – December 12, 2025

The 14-week Master Gardener training course will be held at the Lauderdale County Courthouse, 200 S. Court Street, Florence, Al. Class topics include soils, botany, plant diseases, lawns, vegetables, plant propagation, and more! Classes are taught by professors and specialists from Auburn University, Extension agents, and veteran Master Gardeners. Early-bird registration is $150, November 1-15. The regular registration fee is $175, November 16-30. Late registrations are accepted December 1-12 for a $200 fee.
