Country music legend T. Graham Brown to play Russellville’s July 4th Jam on Sloss Lake
The Russellville City Council approved a contract with legendary country music icon T. Graham Brown to perform at this year’s July 4th Jam on Sloss Lake.
The council approved the contract at a special meeting held May 19th.
Brown joins a talent lineup that includes Russellville’s own Austin Bohannon, the Kerry Gilbert Band and the gospel group Purpose.
Brown has recorded 13 studio albums and has seen more than 20 of his songs crack the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, including three number ones with “Hell and High Water,” “Don’t Go To Strangers” and “Darlene.”
Just two years ago, Brown was inducted into membership at the Grand Ole Opry, a career achievement. He’s performed at the Opry more than 300 times in his career.
In 1998, Brown released a song, “Wine Into Water,” that referenced his struggles with alcoholism. The song remains one of Brown’s most-requested 26 years later.
He’s been the voice for a number of commercial campaigns, including Taco Bell’s popular ‘Run for the Border’ ad campaign that partnered Brown with the fast food giant for four years.
The annual July 4th Jam on Sloss Lake is a free event sponsored by the City of Russellville and local utility boards.
The event includes an evening full of great music, following a day loaded with children’s activities, booths, great food and the Cotton Flats Cruisers Car Show.
“We are very excited to have a wonderful lineup of musical talent at this year’s Jam on Sloss Lake, that now includes T. Graham Brown. It will be a great night of fellowship, fun and great music,” said Russellville Mayor David Grissom.
After theevening concert concludes, attendees experience a top-notch fireworks display second to none in northwest Alabama.
This year marks Brown’s first to perform at the Jam on Sloss Lake, although he did a benefit show in 2013 at the Roxy Theatre that raised funds for a local young mother battling cancer.
Other agenda items at the May 19th meeting included:
—changing the date of the first July city council meeting to Thursday, July 2nd at 12 p.m.
—authorized the City Clerk/Treasurer to submit online payments for account payable.
The next regular business meeting of the Russellville City Council will be June 1, 2026, with work session at 6 p.m., and meeting to follow.
