Russellville City Council approves agreement for fireworks show at July 4th Jam on Sloss Lake
The Russellville City Council will once again host the best Fourth of July event in north Alabama this year at Sloss Lake, and the council approved an agreement with Alabama Pyrotechnics, LLC, to provide a massive fireworks display after the day-long event.
The council approved the agreement at its March 20, 2026 meeting. In other agenda items at the March 20th meeting, the council:
—approved a managed services agreement with Denmark Technologies for the Russellville Administration Department. The agreement provides for day-to-day support, system management, network administration, system security, operating and capital IT budgets for the Administration Department. Charges are based on hourly rates, with the standard rate of $150, increasing to $300/hour for emergency after hours projects and support.
—approved a customer service agreement with UniFirst for services and supplies to the Russellville Police Department.
—approved a construction change in the contract for the RW2 PAPI Installation Project at the Russellville Municipal Airport. The change was to add purchase of a L-854 radio receiver at a cost of $12,200. This brings the entire contract revised total to $216,410.
—approved a revision to the job descriptions for Firefighter-I, Lieutenant, Captain, Fire Marshal and Deputy Fire Chief in the Russellville Fire Department.
—accepted a letter of resignation from Patrol Officer Miguel Zavaleta in the Russellville Police Department, declared a vacancy for the position and authorized advertisement to solicit job applications.
The next regular meeting of the Russellville City Council will be April 6, 2026, with work session at 6 p.m., and meeting to follow.
