County Commission approves five-year contract for Franklin County Engineer Jason Baggett
The Franklin County Commission approved a new contract for Franklin County Engineer Jason Baggett at a short business meeting held June 15th.
The five-year contract starts on July 1, 2026, and runs through June 30, 2031, and includes a three-step salary increase of $9520.80/year.
70 percent of the Franklin County Engineer’s salary is reimbursed by the State of Alabama.
Baggett was hired in April 2021 as Assistant Franklin County Engineer. He was promoted to County Engineer after former County Engineer David Palmer retired in July 2022.
Baggett is a 2002 Rogers High School graduate. He earned his Associates Degree in Business Administration from Northwest Shoals Community College before moving on to the University of Alabama, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, with a minor in Construction Engineering.
He was employed with Bhate Geosciences and the Civil Group prior to coming to Franklin County.
In other agenda items at its June 15th meting, the commission:
—approved the hiring of Andy Soto as a temporary employee in the Franklin County Highway Department.
—approved the retirement of Revenue Commissioner’s Office Tag/Title/Probate Clerk Natalie Henson and authorized advertising for the vacancy.
—approved a list of Insolvents, Errors, Litigations and Unsold Tax Liens presented by the Revenue Commissioner’s Office.
—approved hiring James Fleck as a temporary Corrections Officer/Dispatcher in the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
