Phil Campbell Masonic Lodge hosts Christmas party for underprivileged children

Some Phil Campbell area kids were the guests of honor at a Saturday morning Christmas party hosted by Phil Campbell Masonic Lodge #880.

For the second consecutive year, the Lodge made a donation through Franklin County Schools to help some underprivileged students. The students enjoyed a Christmas meal at the Lodge and were surprised by guest appearances from Santa Claus and the Grinch.

Past Master Greg Williams presented a $1,000 donation from the Lodge to Jennifer West, Mental Health Services Coordinator for Franklin County Schools. The donation will be used to help ensure these children enjoy a Christmas with some gifts under the tree.

“We did this last year, too,” Williams said. “We wanted to help some underprivileged kids in our community and Jennifer came up with the list of students to participate.”

Williams stood in for Worshipful Master Robert Parrish, who had a prior commitment at the time the check was presented.

Lodge #880 raised funds for the donation through raffles it held during the past year. They involve Lodge member selling chances to win various guns, with proceeds used to benefit the community.

The next raffle will be held at the Phil  Campbell Festival next June. Chances are sold for $5 or five for $20 and are available from any Phil Campbell Lodge member, Williams said.
