Commission approves personnel moves, change to mileage reimbursement rate

At a short meeting July 20th, the Franklin County Commission approved several personnel moves, made two board appointments and increased the mileage reimbursement rate for county employees.

Commissioners approved the resignation of John Payne as a temporary employee in the Franklin County Highway Department, approved the hiring of Callie Barber as a Tag/Title/Probate Clerk for the Franklin County Revenue Commissioner’s Red Bay office, approved hiring James Fleck and James Self as permanent Corrections Officers/Dispatchers with the Franklin County Sheriff’ Office and approved FMLA leave for David Nichols in the Franklin County Solid Waste Department for surgery.

Other agenda items approved by the commission included:

—reappointing Bart Moss to the Upper Bear Creek Water Board and District Four Commissioner Tracie Clark to the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association Board of Directors. Clark abstained from the vote involving her appointment.

—approved increasing the mileage reimbursement rate for all county employees from $.72/mile to $.76/mile, following the change to the State of Alabama reimbursement rate.

—approved a budget amendment for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office of approximately $48,000 to include grant receipts to be used for ammo/munitions.
