Roxy to host performances of ‘Annie’ June 6-8

Susie Hovater Malone, President of the Franklin County Arts and Humanities Council, Inc., reported that the beloved musical “Annie” will be presented June 6-8, 2025, at the Historic Roxy Theatre! This production is the first for the summer events.

The Arts Council and the Franklin County Department of Human Resources are partnering with the production of “Annie” to bring awareness of approximately 6000 children in foster care in Alabama and the need for licensed foster homes in Alabama. There is a significant shortage in foster homes for children who long for love, nurturing, and care.  You don’t have to be a billionaire to help make a difference in the lives of foster children in Alabama.

There are opportunities available for $100 sponsorships for businesses, industries, individuals, civic clubs, or anyone that want to support foster children in Franklin County. For each $100 sponsorship, the Franklin County Department of Human Resources receives $20 of the monetary donation and 10% of ticket sales goes to Franklin County foster children.  Each $100 Sponsor receives advertising promotions, mention in the Playbill and the Roxy Showcase. Deadline for your advertisement information and check must be received by Friday, May 2, 2025, to ensure all benefits of advertisement. For more information contact 256-460-8988 or ccmalone80@hotmail.com. Your donation will be Income Tax Deductible.

The musical “Annie” is based on the 1924 comic strip Little Orphan Annie by Harold Gray and a book by Thomas Meehan. The first Broadway production opened in 1977 and ran for nearly six years.  The music was written by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin.  The production features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written—“Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard Knock Life.”  Numerous “Annie” productions have toured in many countries as well as national tours and won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical.

Other cast members include Blakely Dowdy; Arlee Roberts; Kinsley Benford; Mazie Vandiver; Peyton Parrish; Ariel Cothrum; Aubrey Fuller; Reese Mayer; Aria Parrish; Ella Parrish; Julian Francisco; Brookleigh Cockrell; Laura McDuffa; Kalea Nolden; Maria Gonzalez; Cameron Hall; AnnaFaye Prince; Catherine Hall; Emma Hill; Uriah Fisher; Daniel Hill; Cole Fuller; Leigh Mayer; Garrett Booth; Chase Dowdy.
