Russellville City Council accepts $2.85 million bid for new library construction
The Russellville City Council formally accepted a bid for construction of the new Norris Public Library to be located directly behind Russellville City Hall.
The lowest responsible bid came from Brad Slater Construction, LLC, of Leona, Tenn., in the amount of $2,850,000.00. Four bids were submitted for the project.
The council unanimously approved the bid at its June 15th meeting.
Mayor David Grissom said once the bond process is complete, a process he expects to be no more than 30 days, construction will begin.
The contractor will have 365 days to complete the job pursuant to the contract terms.
Russellville Public Library Director Joshlyn Bowen and several members of the Russellville Library Board attended Monday’s meeting.
Grissom expressed his appreciation to Bowen and the Library Board for its work and support throughout the process.
“I want to thank each of you for all you’ve done and all you do to support our public library in Russellville and your support of this project,” Grissom said.
Funding for the library project was secured through a federal appropriations grant thanks in large part to Rep. Robert Aderholt’s support of the project.
