Russellville City Council approves resignations of three police officers at October 19th meeting

The Russellville City Council accepted the resignations of three police officers at its October 19th regular meeting.

The three Russellville Police Department patrol officers leaving the city are Joey Franks, Cody Price and Kyle Knight. Franks accepted a job offer from another law enforcement agency. Knight and his family are moving to Tennessee and Price’s letter said he was resigning in a move that was best for him and his family.

The council also approved advertising for the three patrol officer vacancies.

In other business at the short meeting, the council:

—approved a resolution to declare a 2019 Dodge Durango R/T vehicle surplus in the Russellville Police Department.

—approved an agreement with Valley State Bank for Automated Clearing House (ACH) originated payments so the city may make ACH payments on accounts payable.

—approved School Resource Officer contracts for Sammie Washington and Reece Coan.

—authorized the abatements of nuisances at 509 Carroll Avenue and 503 Carroll Avenue.

—approved job grade adjustments for the Russellville Street Department to maintain an appropriate classification structure after the council’s October 5th hiring of a Garbage Foreman position. A Garbage Collector is classified at Grade 6 and as a result of the Garbage Foreman’s additional duties overseeing the city’s garbage collection procedures, that position will be classified at Grade 7, Step 1.

Additionally, the Assistant Street Superintendent was reclassified as Grade 8, and the Street Department Superintendent at Grade 11, consistent with other departments within the city.

The pay-grade adjustments will be made retroactive to October 5, 2026, the starting date of the new Garbage Foreman position’s employment.

The next regular meeting of the Russellville City Council will be November 2, 2026, with work session at 6 p.m., and meeting to follow.
