Russellville City Council approves hiring of two new employees

The Russellville City Council approved the hiring of two new employees at its September 8th regular meeting.

The council approved department head recommendations to hire Kristi Dolan as Accounts Payable Clerk in the Russellville Administrative Department and Seth Yancey as a Heavy Equipment Driver/Operator in the Street Department Solid Waste Division.

Other agenda items approved by the council included:

—approval of a rezoning request made by Made in USA Properties, LLC, and G&W Deer Run Apartments, LLC, of property adjacent to Deer Run Subdivision from Heavy Industrial to R-3 after a public hearing was conducted with no person speaking in for or against the proposal.

Mayor David Grissom abstained from both the motion to approve the rezoning and the vote to suspend the rules in order to proceed with the hearing.

The Russellville City Council and Mayor David Grissom with Foster Grandparents Program staff and volunteers presenting them with a framed copy of a resolution recognizing AmeriCorps Service volunteers ages 55 and older.

—approved a resolution recognizing AmeriCorps Seniors National Celebration honoring the senior adults 55 and older serving in AmeriCorps Seniors Programs.

—approved an agreement with Brycer Advisory Group for the Russellville Fire Department to provide advisory services for three years and assist with integrating and streamlining the department’s fire inspection program.

—approved abatement of a nuisance at 222 Hamilton Street, due to violations of overgrown vegetation in the front and backyards, and beside the residence.

—accepted and approved a claim made by JT Lawler for damage to his mailbox on Ruby Hollow Drive after a knuckleboom truck belonging to the Street Department hit it. The claim was for $461.86.

The next regular meeting of the Russellville City Council will be September 21st, with work session at 6 p.m., and meeting to follow.
