Russellville City Council approves biometric fingerprint system purchase for RPD
The Russellville City Council approved the purchase of a state-of-the-art LiveScan Plus biometric data collection system for the Russellville Police Department at the council’s January 5th meeting.
The new system, which includes a PC workstation, software, palm/fingerprint scanner and installation and training, comes at a cost of $14,250.
The department’s current LiveScan Plus hardware has been in use since 2012 and replacement equipment and peripherals are no longer available or viable with today’s advanced technology.
The contract with DataWorks Plus states the city will also provide a digital camera and FBI certified printer with necessary cabling. Delivery is expected 30-90 days after receipt of the order, which was approved Monday.
The LiveScan Plus allows for collection, storage, search and managing of every piece of biometric data from the criminal booking process. It is considered at the forefront of technology available to law enforcement departments today.
