Belgreen’s Johnson, Russellville’s Pace compete in respective events during AHSAA All-Star Week

Two Franklin County student-athletes participated in the 2025 AHSAA All-Star Week last week with Belgreen High School boys’ basketball’s Braycen Johnson and Russellville High School girls’ tennis player Lily Cate Pace competing in their respective all-star events in Montgomery on Tuesday, July 22.

Johnson, a Franklin Free Press All-Franklin County First Team selection, averaged 21.2 points-per-game in his junior campaign with the Belgreen Bulldogs, earning an opportunity to play in the all-star game held at the Crampton Bowl Multiplex.

Representing the North All-Stars, Johnson played six minutes in the North’s 76-65 loss to the South All-Stars. The rising senior was 1-for-1 from the field, hitting a three-pointer in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter. Johnson also finished with four defensive rebounds and one block.

Pace, who helped the Lady Golden Tigers to section runner-up and a berth in the AHSAA state tournament this spring, represented the North All-Stars in the girls’ doubles tennis all-star contest held at Lagoon Park.

Paired with Florence High School’s Rylan Hayes, Pace played against St. James’ Helen Johnston and McGill-Toolen’s Mae Lecour. Pace and Hayes were defeated 6-3, 6-3. The South All-Stars won the competition over the North 6-3, taking four of six in singles play and two of three in doubles play.
