BHS, PCHS, RHS compete at the Chickasaw Trails cross country meet
The Belgreen, Phil Campbell, and Russellville High School varsity cross country teams competed at the Chickasaw Trails Invitational in Oakville on Tuesday, September 9.
Belgreen had seven total competitors race in the event—three girls and four boys. Elizabeth Motes, Briana Valasquez, and Lilibeth Cruz ran in the girls’ 5k race with Motes finishing 41st (25:33.80), Valasquez finishing 84th (49:10.42), and Cruz taking 101st place (34:32.32).
In the boys’ 5k, Jose Estrada came in 57th (20:36.72), Miguel Perez 63rd (20:40.47), Aaron Rubido 134th (24:24.21), and Skylar Hardy finished 142nd (24:45.29).
Phil Campbell had four student-athletes take place in the event. On the girls’ side, Avery Wells finished her 5k race in 24:16.40, good enough for 27th place; and Rayna Scott took 65th with a time of 28:36.89.
In the boys’ 5k, Bailey Nix finished 108th (22:35.71) and Uriah Fisher came in 186th (28:24.49).
Russellville had over 50 runners in the girls’ and boys’ 5k races. The top time for the RHS girls’ team came from Heidy Jacobo, who took 49th place with a mark of 22:05.44. The RHS boys best time came from Pascual Felipe, who ran his 5k in 18:03.69, good for 60th place.
