Phil Campbell (7-3) vs. Pleasant Valley (8-2)
Date: Friday, November 6, 2026
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Parrish Stadium
Regular season finale: The Bobcats dispatched longtime rival Hackleburg 50-27 on the final week of the regular season to extend their winning streak to seven games, the program’s longest winning streak since 2001. The win, though it was a non-region victory, was critical to Phil Campbell’s playoff positioning, as well. Tied in first place with Lexington and Colbert County but with the head-to-head advantage over CCHS, the Bobcats needed to beat the Panthers to ensure home field advantage for the first round.
Matchup history: It will be the first meeting between Phil Campbell and Pleasant Valley.
Other notes: Should Phil Campbell beat Pleasant Valley, it will be the first playoff win for PCHS since 2000 when the Bobcats last won a region title and advanced to the third round of the Class 3A playoffs. A win would also extend Phil Campbell’s current winning streak to eight games, matching another long winning streak in 2001. (PCHS’ longest winning streak in program history is 12 games, achieved during the 1951-52 campaigns.)
Round two: The winner of the game will travel to face the winner of the Gordo and Ider game in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.
Red Bay (7-3) at Winterboro (10-0)
Date: Friday, November 6, 2026
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Bulldog Stadium (Alpine, Ala.)
Regular season finale: The Tigers suffered a tough 30-22 defeat on the road at Meek to close out the regular season on October 23. Special teams errors and a turnover saw Red Bay fall into a 22-0 hole early in the game, but the Tigers were able to erase the deficit in the second half and eventually tied the game up 22-22. Unfortunately for RBHS, Meek had one more touchdown-scoring drive left in the tank, and the Tigers’ efforts to tie the game back up late fell short. The defeat dropped the Tigers to the No. 4 seed out of the region. Red Bay is coming into the first round of the playoffs off a bye week.
Matchup history: This will be the first ever meeting between Red Bay and Winterboro, which has spent the last two decades in Class 1A.
Other notes: Friday night will represent Red Bay’s 35th playoff appearance. The Tigers have advanced to the second round on half of those occasions, but historically the Tigers have fared poorly against ranked opposition in the postseason (Winterboro is ranked No. 3) with just two wins in 20.
Round two: The winner of this game will travel to the winner of the Parker and Mae Jemison game.
Russellville (9-1) vs. Pell City (4-5)
Date: Friday, November 6, 2026
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Golden Tiger Stadium
Regular season finale: Russellville took care of business against Austin back on October 23, beating the Black Bears 45-35 in a game that decided the region runner-up. Led by senior running back Tarus Davis, who is on a streak of 11 consecutive 100-plus-yard rushing performances, and aided by a few special teams momentum swingers, the Golden Tigers would not be denied on their Homecoming night. Russellville is coming into the first round of the playoffs off a bye week.
Matchup history: This will be the fourth ever meeting between Russellville and Pell City and the second time the two have met in the postseason. The Golden Tigers won the previous meeting, in the third round of the 1987 playoffs, by a final of 7-0 after scoring the go-ahead touchdown with 3:30 left in the game and then picking off a Pell City pass in the endzone to ice it. The Golden Tigers and Panthers split the first two meetings, both regular season games in 1984 and 1985.
Other notes: Friday night will mark the Russellville football program’s 40th playoff appearance and the seventh straight year the Golden Tigers have hosted a first-round playoff game. Russellville has seen much success in its postseason opener, winning 31 of its 39 first round games. For RHS head coach Darrell Higgins, a win against Pell City will give him 30 career postseason victories.
Round two: The winner of this game will travel to the winner of the Parker and Mae Jemison game.
