Red Bay, Russellville, Vina compete at Hamilton’s Aggie Invite
Local varsity outdoor track and field teams from Red Bay High School, Russellville High School, and Vina High School were active at the 2026 Aggie Invite, hosted by Hamilton High School, on Thursday, March 19. All three teams put forth solid performances.
For Red Bay’s part, the Tigers saw a trio of top 15 finishes between their girls and boys teams.
The best individual finish for RBHS came from sophomore Hayden Sartain, who took 12th place in the boys’ javelin throw with a mark of 94-8. Blake Oliver, a junior, had RBHS’ other top 15 finish; Oliver came in 14th in the girls’ discus throw, recording a distance of 47-1. Red Bay’s girls’ 4×100-meter relay team took eighth place in the finals with a time of 1:19.41.

The Russellville Golden Tigers reached the podium several times, including in five events in which they grabbed gold.
Two of Russellville’s five first place finishes came from sophomore Darron Jones, who bested his competition in both the boys’ 100- and 200-meter dashes. In the 100-meter, Jones finished with a time of 10.95; in the 200-meter he had a time of 22.11, breaking a program record set in 2004. Jones also finished second in the boys’ 110-meter hurdles, coming in at 15.35.
Rounding out RHS’ two other individual gold performances were sophomores Angeleah Smith and Charley Johnson. Smith claimed the top spot in the girls’ high jump with a mark of 5-2. Johnson’s first place finish came in the girls’ shot where she recorded a distance of 31-5.
Russellville’s boys’ 4×100-meter relay team was the fifth and final gold recipient. The team finished the dash with a time of 43.46.
Other notable performances from Golden Tigers include silver performances by Skylar Ergle in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles and long jump; an eighth-place finish from Hunter Kastberg in the boys’ pole vault which set a new school record with a mark of 5-8; second and third-place finishes from senior Connor Devaney in the boys’ 100- and 200-meter dashes; and bronze finishes for Pascual Felipe in the boys’ 1600-meter race, Sam Wilson in the boys’ shot put, and Hannah Waldrep in the girls’ 400-meter dash. There were also record-setting performances from the RHS girls’ 4×100-meter relay teams, whose third-place time of 54.13 is now a program best; and Daimar Valdez, who set a new team record with a third-place, 53.81 time in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles.
Russellville’s varsity boys’ team finished as the meet runner-up behind the host, Hamilton.

Vina rounds out the list of Franklin County teams that participated in the Aggie Invite. The Red Devils had several top 10 placers and got to the podium in one event.
Vina’s best finish at the meet came from its girls’ 4×800-meter relay team, which came in second with a time of 16:49.27.
Individually, VHS had nine athletes place in the top 10 in finals. A few of the best among these include Cecelia Rowbottom’s sixth-place mark in the girls’ shot put (26-0), Addy Pannell’s sixth-place finish in the girls’ high jump (4-2), and Samantha Elder’s eighth-place time in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles (21.42).
