‘Made in Alabama’ event to showcase in-state manufactured products to local students
For the third consecutive year, Franklin County sixth grade students will have an opportunity to see and learn about the many products made in their home state.
The 3rd Annual “Made in Alabama” event is set for Thursday, October 15th at the Franklin County Career Technical Center in Russellville.
More than 600 sixth graders and educators from all Franklin County schools are expected to attend. Scheduled activities include a first-hand look at Alabama-made products, interactive activities and lunch.
The “Made in Alabama” event serves as a wonderful opportunity for local businesses to showcase their products to local students, introducing the next generation to the businesses and industries that make Franklin County and Alabama great.
“We are incredibly grateful to the businesses and organizations that participated in last year's event. It was a tremendous success and our students thoroughly enjoyed learning about the many innovative products made right here in Alabama,” said Melissa McHenry, Career Coach for Franklin County Schools.
“We are excited to build on that success this year and anticipate welcoming over 300 students and educators on October 15th,” she added.
There are several ways for businesses to get involved, including donating Alabama-made product samples to be displayed and discussed with students, event sponsorship to help offset costs for lunch and other event expenses or business participation, where company representatives attend the event and interact with students while sharing information about their company.
Past participants have included Alabama Candle Company, Belgreen Coatings, Clark Pulley, CNC Stonecrafters, Pilgrim's Pride, Golden Eagle Syrup, Leisure Creations, Moore's Marinade, Wickles Pickles, Murray Farms, Vulcan Materials and more.
The event affords students the opportunity to explore potential career paths and to appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into so many products right in their own communities, county and state.
The Franklin County Career Technical Center is located at 85 Jail Springs Road, Russellville.
