Second Candidate Roundtable set for next Tuesday in Phil Campbell
19 candidates, including some at the federal, state and local level, have committed to attend the second Candidate Roundtable, set for Tuesday, April 14th at the Phil Campbell Community Center.
It’s the second roundtable of two events hosted by the Republican Women of Franklin County, Alabama (RWFCA). The first event was such a success that the RWFCA secured a larger venue to host the April 14th roundtable. Additionally, sponsorships were sold for the second event to help offset costs. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
The Phil Campbell Community Center is located at 132 Sherry Bryce Drive. The event will begin at 6 p.m.
While the RWFCA is serving as the host, the organization does not endorse candidates during a primary election.
As of April 8th, these candidates have confirmed they will attend:
—United States Senate candidate Barry Moore (will have a representative in his place) and Alex Reynolds.
—Gubernatorial candidate Ken McFeeters, who recently filed a civil lawsuit against Sen. Tommy Tuberville, the favorite to win the nomination, challenging his eligibility to run for the office.
—Lieutenant Governor candidates Dr. Stewart Hill Tankersley, John Wahl and Nicole Jones Wadsworth.
—Secretary of State candidates Caroleene Dobson and Glenda S. Jackson.
—State Treasurer candidate Steve Lolley.
—Candidates for Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries Christina Woerner McInnis and Jack Williams.
—Public Service Commission Place One candidate Jeremy H. Oden.
—Public Service Commission Place Two candidate Priscilla Andrews.
—Franklin County Commission District One candidates Grayson Murray, Curtis Baker, Jeff Fleming, Miles Gaston and Joey Norton.
—Franklin County Sheriff candidates Shannon Oliver and Brian Shackelford.
The Roundtable will include two rounds of candidates meeting with voters in an informal setting at the candidates’ assigned tables.
The evening will begin with a ‘Mix and Mingle’ time, followed by the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance before candidates are introduced.
There will be a short intermission between Rounds One and Two.
Candidates assigned to Round One will have five minutes to speak with the people at their table. When the bell rings, Round One candidates will progress to the next table while candidates assigned to Round Two will remain at their assigned tables.
There will be 10 tables with candidates spending time at each.
It’s an excellent, and rare, opportunity for voters to interact with Republican candidates at all levels. It’s also a first-of-its-kind event to attract so many candidates to Franklin County at one time.
