Red Bay falls in opening round of football playoffs to No. 3 Fyffe

The Red Bay Tigers were unfortunately tasked with facing one of the best teams in 2A football in the first round of the state playoffs.

The Tiger fell to #3 in ranked Fyffe last Friday night 55-8.

The Fyffe Red Devils are a fast paced run centric team with one main focus… Get the ball to Logan Anderson.

Anderson had 151 yards rushing with 10 carries.

After leading the first quarter 6-0. , the Red Devils exploded for 28 second-quarter points.

The Tigers could not find answer to stop Fyffe’s run and passing game. And vice versa, after the Tiger’s first drive resulted in four first downs and then a punt, they could piece together another offensive drive.

“As far as defensively, we’d hold them for third down and they’d break a long run,” Head coach Heath Childers said.

Albeit the Tiger are losing three very talented seniors this year, Jon Shotts, Brady Hardin and Caden Keeton the future looks bright for the 13 juniors taking their place next year to lead.

“The juniors were a bulk of the team this year. After being on the field with Fyffe, ew realize we have a lot of work To do,” Childers said.
