Following a solid 2026 campaign, three Russellville High School varsity volleyball student-athletes—Bella Malone, Bri McCulloch, and Blevyn Sappington—earned and accepted invitations to the upcoming 6th Annual Central Alabama Standouts Volleyball Showcase, hosted at Talladega College, on Saturday, November 14.
The trio of juniors will be representing the Lady Golden Tigers in the showcase’s 10th-12th Grade Division and will be competing with and against talented players from around the state.
“I couldn’t be prouder of these girls and their selection to the Central Alabama Volleyball Standouts All-Star Showcase!” Russellville head coach Madison Lamon said. “I can’t wait to watch them compete, work together, and represent the Golden Tigers!
“Having the opportunity to all be on the same team makes it even more special,” she added. “What a great chance for them to continue growing, learning, and building chemistry together on the court. So proud of each of them!”
According to several posts on the Central Alabama Standouts Facebook page, the showcase is meant to allow student-athletes to “compete alongside talented volleyball players from across Alabama and Georgia while gaining valuable experience and showcasing” their abilities; it’s “designed to bring together athletes from different schools and communities” and provide “exposure through competitive volleyball.”
Malone, McCulloch and Sappington will continue to share the floor together as members of Team Champions, one of seven teams in the 10th-12th Grade Division. They’ll be joined on the team by players from schools such as Lexington, Pell City, B.B. Comer, Hayden, Heard County (GA), Jacksonville, and Southern Academy and will be coached by West Point’s Melissa Cleghorn.
